Kings Game Date Story...

Tamara insists it was on our second date that I did this, but I doubt I would have had the courage that date to have said what I said.  In all relationships this statement ultimately needs to be made at some point.  If not, the relationship will be doomed, as the man will never be able to find true happiness and comfort when sharing his favorite activities with his love.  If it isn't ever said, the man will be doomed to "yes dear" the remainder of his life!

Well, it's not that bad... but she had to do the same thing back at me one time during Buffy.  I suppose it's a matter of setting boundaries.

So here it is.  We went to a King's game on the CS season tickets.  At some point early in the game, with the teams (I think it was Utah and Sac) running up and down the court in the usual first half monotony, Tamara must have gotten a little bored.  Or maybe she just wanted to keep some dialogue going, or maybe she was starting to feel uncomfortable.  I don't know what possessed her?  but she actually tried to talk to me while the game was on!  Can you believe the nerve?  I guess I wasn't very responsive (probably sports brain-dead), so she pressed further to the point where she was looking for a response from me.  I had been paying more attention to the game than the girl, but I didn't want this to explode into some big issue between us.  I decided to nip it in the beginning.

So I turned to her and said "trying to talk to me while the game is going isn't going to work.  I came to the game to watch it.  I'll make you a deal.  If I can watch the game while it's going, you can have my attention during the time-outs and all of half time."  Looking back it wasn't the smartest thing I have ever said to another person, and I didn't respect her feelings very well.  But it was our first big compromise.  It also has worked out pretty well too.  When the game is on, we pay attention to the game, and during breaks we pay attention to each other.  Tamara has become a pretty big basketball fan, and has a good understanding of the game.  During the playoff's last year she was a maniac!  So were the other 18,000 fans at ARCO.

One more thing on this date, Tamara finally got her flowers from the first date.

On the next date I finally got to see where Tamara lived and to meet her DOG Dallas.  But that's another story.
